How long does it take to arrange a loan?
If you have all the required documents to support your application, we can process a loan in less than two hours.
What is the interest rate?
Our interest rate varies. It is dependant on a number of factors, such as the security offered for the loan and the duration of the loan. Once determined, the interest rate is fixed for the term of the loan.
There are setup fees and other charges may apply, so call us on 0800 66 66 39 so we can explain fully how these charges effect you and your loan in real terms.
What are the repayment terms?
Our repayment period ranges from three months to a maximum of 36 months. To help you manage your payments to suit your household income, we can plan your repayments to fit your pay periods and living commitments. Repayments can be arranged from $30 per week.
Can I borrow money if I’m on a benefit or have had credit problems?
At MoneyShop, all applications are assessed on an individual basis. Initially, we may provide a limited loan to give you the opportunity to build a good credit history with us.
How old do you have to be to get a loan?
You must be at least 18 years of age to apply for any form of credit or finance.
What are my payment options?
We prefer you to make payments by Automatic Payment or Salary Deduction. Payments may also be made at any branch of the BNZ or MoneyShop.
What can I use as security for my loan?
We lend on motor vehicles, furniture, property, life insurance policies, share certificates, and most other forms of negotiable securities. The value of the security is discussed on an individual basis There must be no money owing on your security. If a balance remains, we can sometimes pay this out and build the cost into your loan.
What if I don’t have security for the loan?
If you do not have security for a loan we may still be able to help if you are able to arrange a suitable Guarantor. The Guarantor follows the same procedure as if they were borrowing the money and have suitable security.
Can I get an unsecured loan?
If you are unable to provide security it may be that your situation allows us to offer you an unsecured loan up to the value of $3000. Please feel free to talk to us about it.
Can I refinance my loan?
Yes. Sometimes you may need extra money before you have finished paying your loan. We can refinance your loan if you have a good repayment history with us, clear credit and affordability.
What is debt consolidation?
If you have a number of bills to pay, other loans, hire purchases or credit card balances, it can sometimes save you money to consolidate these into one loan. It is definitely easier to manage in your household budget and payments can be timed to fit your pay cycle.
Can I settle my loan early?
Yes, but please note there may be an early repayment fee.
Why do you add my partner’s name to the loan?
Should you wish to use chattels that are jointly owned, under the Property (Relationships) Act 1976, we are required to have both owners of the chattels listed on the loan documents.
What if something happens and I can’t pay?
MoneyShop offers a comprehensive Payment Protection Plan. This covers your repayments in the event of an accident, sickness or death.

Supply us with your identification, proof of income and proof of address. |
Identification should have both your signature and date of birth on it. For example, passport, driver license, or any other photo identification. Proof of income is your our most recent monthly bank statement and a wage slip if you receive one. If you are self employed a statement of accounts will be required. Proof of address is your tenancy agreement, land rates or letter of board. If a letter of board is provided we require one form of id from the person writing the letter. As the second form of address we require either a recent power or phone bill.

We carry out a credit check, assess your security and search the Personal Property Security Register. |
The Personal Property Security Register tells us your security is available to be used for the loan.
We will also arrange a valuation of your chattels or vehicle if required. Remember to bring your car if you are using it as secuirty. |

Do I need to make an appointment?
Simply come to any MoneyShop branch. We are open from 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday except Otahuhu which is open up to 5.30pm. On Saturdays our Manukau and Otahuhu branches are open from 8:00am to 3:00pm. If in doubt give us a call.
Where can I park?
Don’t worry. There are lots of free parks right outside every MoneyShop branch.
